New York, October 4, 2023 — The General Minister of the Order of Friars Minor, Fr. Massimo Fusarelli, OFM, during his pastoral visit to New York, conferred the Award of Distinction upon Fr. Lovro Simić, OFM, Director of Religious Vocations and Pastoral Care for Youth and Family in the Holy Family Custody, USA. The presentation took place in the Franciscan parish serving the Croatian Catholic community, with the participation of Fr. Jimmy Zammit, OFM, General Definitor for the English-speaking Provinces.
The Award of Distinction is granted only on rare occasions. Its selection process is guided by an internal review of achievements with global relevance, ensuring that recipients embody a profound and enduring contribution to the Franciscan mission and to the Church.

About Fr. Massimo Fusarelli, OFM
Fr. Massimo Fusarelli, OFM, born on March 30, 1963, in Rome, Italy, entered the Franciscan Order in 1982 and was ordained a priest in 1989. He studied theology at the Pontifical University Antonianum and patristics at the Augustinianum in Rome, later serving as a professor of patristic theology. His ministry combined academic service with deep pastoral outreach, particularly in service to the poor, formation of friars, and provincial leadership.
On July 13, 2021, he was elected General Minister of the Order of Friars Minor, making him the 121st successor of St. Francis of Assisi and the highest authority for Franciscans worldwide.
